Don't know if everyone already knows this, but it is a very helpful feature of these PHPBB forums. I want to share it with the world.
Once you have logged in, you will see the following link in the upper right corner of the screen...

The link, in the upper right corner of the forum index, is labelled "View posts since your last visit," and it is very handy indeed. It lists all of the new things that have been posted since your last visit.
The way I use it is to CTRL-click the little paper icon on each line in order to get each new post into a new Firefox tab. |

yeah, i didn't see the link, either, heather. not until i went to the very first page. that's the only place it shows up. it doesn't show on individual threads or posts pages. _________________ Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. What makes it a good link is that it takes you directly to the last post. What makes it a bad link is that you have to return to the first page in order to go "directly" to the next, last post. And then back to the forum index to hit the next, last post, and so on. You might as well keep returning to the forum index and looking for the orange pages...
Unless you're really on 24/7 in five-minute increments so there's only one new post since your last visit... _________________ "What shall we do today, Brain?"

My first comment of the morning, bound to be snarky!!!
You should get acquainted with tabbed browsing, sis. As I mentioned previously, if you hold down the CTRL key when you click a "latest post" paper icon, that page will open up in a new tab without closing the list of latest posts. Then go down to another new/orange line and do it again, with the CTRL key held down.
Optionally, you can click a paper icon with the middle button of a 3-button mouse to do the same thing. Whatever you clicked will open in a new tab, leaving the current page intact.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TABBED BROWSING, upgrade your Internet Explorer from version 6 to version 7. Or install Mozilla Firefox. |

Amazingly enough, not snarky (except for the "snarky" comment!)
I tried to do the tabbed browsing... obviously I don't have an upgraded IE version, and since I don't have a genuine copy of Windows (according to Windows), I imagine that as soon as I try to update IE it'll shut the whole thing down like it did with my Windows Media Player. So I'll install Firefox. Would you be a dear and give me a direct link to that page so I don't have to hunt for it? I'm so pathetic with that stuff...
Thank you! _________________ "What shall we do today, Brain?"

You do not have to update Windows to update IE:
http://microsoft.com/ie/
But screw them; Firefox is a lot more customizable (with plugins):
http://getfirefox.com/
Enjoy! And don't call me for tech support. I've left the computer business to join show business. |

For anyone else who had difficulty with Brett's link, try this one: http://mozilla.com _________________ "What shall we do today, Brain?"

Yet another helpful hint from your webmaster:
If you find it a little bit cumbersome to refer to these discussion groups as "talk dot lexjb dot com," do what my friend Dawn does. Use the simple nickname
"JBTalk"
Thanks, Dawn! |

Are you saying that people refer to these discussion groups by name? I talk about the family-and-friends blog, and then I write down the address for people I invite in. _________________ "What shall we do today, Brain?"
